Description:
Following a series of fatal incidents involving the off-road operation of snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles (ATV) in Franklin County, the Franklin County Traffic Safety Board (FCTSB) initiated a series of law enforcement and educational actions to reverse the trend of increasing personal injury and fatal incidents.
The Board continues to offer a wide variety of educational initiatives to support the safe operation of all off-road vehicles. Speakers are available to clubs and other groups. In addition, various safety publications can be provided by the FCTSB for use by others in promoting safety in the off-road operation of snowmobiles and ATV's.
High quality public safety announcements (PSA's) are also available from the FCTSB in DVD and video formats.
The FCTSB also sponsors an aggressive law enforcement program design to detect the unsafe operation of snowmobiles and ATV's. These initiatives include announced and unannounced checkpoints and saturation patrols by state, local and tribal police personnel.
